Magento Page Builder 2.3.1 – Enhancements & Features
On the 26th of March 2019, Magento released 2.3.1. This is a major release for the company introducing lots of new features and bug fixes. A major improvement to the platform is the release of the new Page Builder, the long-awaited WYSIWYG content editor. As well as this, Magento has also released patches and security enhancements.

The difference between Commerce and Open Source is not significant in this update. The only notable improvement introduced to Commerce users only is Page Builder, which unfortunately will not be coming to Open Source ( Not even as a paid for extension ).
As for other features which span across both Open Source and Commerce, they are:
- Enhanced order creation workflow;
- Support for uncompressed PDP images;
- Improved Inventory Management workflow;
- Automated dependency updates;
- PWA Studio – We will be following this one closely!;
- Improved GraphQL APIs;
- Enhanced security;
- Better performance;
- And numerous infrastructure improvements.

Page Builder
The new Page Builder functionality within Magento Commerce ( just to point out it will not be available in Open Source ) will allow users to create fabulous looking webpages with no coding required. Features will include:
- Drag and drop content creation – No more nasty WYSIWYG HTML just smooth sailing with blocks that are pre-created.
- Content block editors
- Live previews and updates to your design
- Form editors for data collection
What this means for your eCommerce
If you’re on Commerce edition of Magento it will mean you’ll have a nice surprise waiting when you get the upgrade. The Page builder will allow your team to produce nice landing pages with interactive content.
